Subspecies of sniper shooters – a real cesspool of the genre. Games in which most of the time you need to wipe the ground with your chest, hide from the enemy, and then solve the problem with a well -aimed shot in the head from a distance of a hundred meters, there is a lot. But the only decent sniper game is Sniper Elite – I came out as many as five years ago, simultaneously making a lot of noise in Russia: the protagonist, dressed in a Nazi uniform, destroyed the soldier of the Soviet army trying to mumble the nuclear developments of the Third Reich.

The last time the sniper theme tried to travele cowboys from City Interactive. Their Sniper: Art of Victory I tried to resemble Sniper Elite in everything, but I did it badly. A clawed engine, a dull plot and monotonous tasks sent a game to the same weight category in which all games from the Czech studio are located nearly (recall, this company specializes in shooters about special forces – fresh ones). Sniper: Ghost Warrior – This is the second call of City Interactive to the target. This time is much more successful.

Tactics of a hidden war

According to the plot, a detachment of special forces and several snipers of the US Army go to the islands of the fictional banana republic to prevent a military coup, destroy the rebellious general, and at the same time understand the developments of local nuclear physicists. Some non-standard overtures and turns should not be expected. In short briefings, on the download screen, we are put on business, set a specific combat mission and in most cases they leave the jungle and sniper rifle in the company.

To go to the target, you most often need to overcome numerous enemy barriers, safely pass patrols, silently bypass the cordons, and sometimes even crawl out two to three meters from the guard exhibited. But this does not mean at all that we cannot destroy enemies. The main thing is to closely ensure that no one can see how you deal with the next enemy. Soldier needs to stick one by one. A knife stab, a silent shot from a pistol into the back of the head or bullet from a rifle with an optical sight – the corpse cools on the ground, and you are moving on, hoping that the patrol will not find a cold body and will not increase the alarm.

The best way to hide from prying eyes is to lie motionless in a thick chapel. The soldiers will pass a meter away from you and will not notice. During the movement, especially in open areas, you will have to carefully look around and do not forget to cast a glance at the “discovery” indicator – it is in a visual form (red strip) shows how noticeable our hero is for enemies. As soon as the scale is overflowing, write. Immediately from all sides, fighters run up and clearly explain to our lord sniper how to cook a shnitzel in Bavarian. Since there is a jungle around the jungle, it is very difficult to distinguish from where the enemy shoots – the tracks from the bullets are noticeable only when you look exactly at the leading fire. At the minimum level of complexity, you can still try to shoot back, but on average and even more so on the maximum of your protective costume, and with it you are also very quickly turned into a sieve.

Under the canopy of a drunken forest

However, do not forget that our hero is one of the best snipers, so you will have to feel a produced victim only on some missions. The rest of the time, developers do everything so that we can tear off the belly from the ground and contribute to the reign of democracy in the Banana Republic. In Sniper: Art of Victory, the only entertainment was – quietly shoot enemies to the noise of the artillery. In Ghost Warrior, the amusement program is much richer.

We get intelligence, and then imperceptibly leave the territory of the bases, arrange a funny swim on a boat with a shooting of enemies settled along the shores. We dig up on the hill and destroy hundreds of soldiers from a large -caliber machine gun. We travel along a mountain serpentine on a caterpillar wedge and fly from the roof to the roof, fixed on the cable. In order to go out to the position and destroy the next goal with the only shot, we are sometimes offered to get to the firing point with a hook with a rope – to cling, however, only for strictly designated and pre -marked branches.

The most important thing is that all this whistle looks quite reliable. For the time being … The new version of the engine copes with the drawing of the jungle perfectly. The leaves of palm trees sway in the wind, vines sway, grass rustles underfoot, water is generally incomparable. If you take a closer look, you begin to notice that the textures are greased, the rocks are some kind of angular, and the buildings are similar to each other like two drops of water. But when you crawl on the belly in the thick grass, wrap yourself through the bushes or climb on a tree to be comfortable in the fork, you do not notice all these flaws at all. Ghost Warrior jungle looks even better than in Crysis.

SOR in the eyes

But closer to the middle of the game City Interactive can not stand it and include their favorite budget shooter. Apparently, considering that you won’t stretch the game on a sniper gameplay, the developers decide to entertain us with ordinary shooting battles. Together with the special forces detachment, we go to capture the oil platform. With a regular machine gun in hands, with shootings in a luggage, with radio teams and other “assault” attributes.

Like a veil falls from the eyes. The engine is pushing, creaking, but still gives out a picture that would look wretched five years ago. The characters move like poliomyelite rickets. It suddenly turns out that AI is not capable of even elementary tactics. The fact that in the jungle, when looking from the bushes, looked like a competent strategic maneuver (enemies took us into a ring and watered with fire), turns into military stupidity. The enemy stands still, shoots strictly on one member of our detachment, you can approach such a woe-warrior closely, he will not think to transfer the sight to you.

Our partners are no better. They will stand under straight fire until you get to the next control point and thereby activate the trigger that triggers the command “run to the next shelter”. The fact that at this moment the enemy can shoot at your associates point blank, it seems that they do not bother at all.

After that, the developers turn the same focus several more times: they juggle good sniper gameplay in the jungle and absolutely mediocre special forces, which finally lubricates the impression. From a completely solid game about the aimed shooting of enemies under the canip of the Sniper: Ghost Warrior, it turns into some kind of booth, falls apart … After that, a razor sharp end of the game is perceived for granted: after the next aimed shot, they simply demonstrate the inscription “end” to us On the black screen. Thank you, otherwise we have been waiting.

City Interactive was too played into Hollywood. To create bright shooters consisting of a series of memorable episodes with different gameplay, you need to be Infinity Ward or Treyarch. But there is no doubt other: compared to Art of Victory, a new game of Poles is a serious step forward. I admit, we are already looking forward to their new announcement with the Sniper prefix https://betzino-gb-casino.co.uk/ and we really hope that next time it will do without stupid imitations of Modern Warfare.
